FTC Care Label Roundtable Discussion on March 28, 2014

FTC Care Label Roundtable Discussion on March 28, 2014

We were at the FTC Care Label Roundtable discussions on Friday, March 28, 2014. This time, there was no government shut-down! I was seated at the first panel, as the Secretary of the Professional Wet Cleaners Associations,  and my senior colleague and President, Mr. Gus Chang, sat on the third panel. It was an honor and privilege to be able to speak at the Federal level about our process and how successful it is. Here are some links to the FTC website as well. You can check their website often for updates.   http://www.ftc.gov/news-events/events-calendar/2014/03/care-labeling-rule-ftc-roundtable http://www.ftc.gov/news-events/press-releases/2014/02/ftc-host-roundtable-proposed-changes-its-care-labeling-rule    ...

Professional Wet Cleaning Video Interview: Thousand Oaks, CA

Many people may not know this but Press On Cleaners is a Demo site for Professional Wet Cleaning in Northern California which is coordinated by UCLA’s Sustainable Technology and Policy Program. When we or our colleagues host a workshop, it allows other dry cleaners to come and see our system and to also bring their garments to see for themselves firsthand how effective wet cleaning is. In August, we visited one of our fellow Wet Cleaners in Thousand Oaks, California. James and I were interviewed for the video so you’ll see us in it too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2z_ySLcMHk&feature=youtu.be   Here’s a link to their website: http://stpp.ucla.edu/node/367  ...
FTC Care Label Hearing Trip to Washington, D.C.

FTC Care Label Hearing Trip to Washington, D.C.

I was very honored and excited to be chosen as a panelist, being the Secretary of the Professional Wetcleaners Associations (PWA), at one of the Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) Roundtable Hearings scheduled for October 1st regarding the Care Label Rule. James, my colleagues from CA, and I were all ready and sitting in our hotel on the eve of Sunday, September 30th, anxiously watching the TV as the countdown to a possible government shutdown seemed inevitable. Alas, at midnight, CNN and other news stations across the country announced that it was so. Despite the postponement of the hearing, we decided to still stop by the FTC building. We took some pictures and then headed out to a brief bus tour of DC. Many federal offices and departments were closed so we were only able to take pictures from a distance at many monumental places. Nonetheless, it was a very memorable and special trip. I cannot wait to see when the re-scheduling will be. It looks like we will be heading to DC again…      ...
December 2012 Wet Cleaning Workshop

December 2012 Wet Cleaning Workshop

On Sunday, December 9, 2012, we hosted a Wet Cleaning Workshop from 1~3:30 pm. This is the 2nd workshop we have hosted at our store. We enjoy hosting and opening our store to other dry cleaners who are contemplating about converting from solvent usage to professional wet cleaning. I’ve even given a few tours to our curious clients who wanted to see the inside world of an actual plant in operation.   For me, it’s always interesting to hear every cleaner’s story and their situation and what brings them to a wet cleaning...

2011 Clean Show

(Las Vegas, NV) June 06 ~ June 09, 2011 The 2011 Clean Show was a 4-day event, held at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The show housed a host of dry cleaning and laundry related equipment and accoutrements in a huge warehouse-type setting. James and I, along with our other colleagues, were invited by Mr. Hans Kim, the Guru of Professional Wet Cleaning, to attend and to share our personal experiences. Of course, we were ecstatic about sharing our experiences with Miele and Veit with others since we switched to Wet Cleaning three years ago. Our experience has been nothing short of fantastic, especially because of the great machines that are a product of wonderful German engineering!   Representatives from many other companies came with notebooks in hand to gain insight and to ask us questions about Wet Cleaning! The Convention Center was packed with people from all parts of the world, Sri Lanka, South Africa, France, Germany, Korea, Japan, Chile, just to name a few. To all those who claimed that Professional Wet Cleaning did not work, well, I think the hundreds of thousands of garments being cleaned in the State of California alone proves on a daily basis that such beliefs are inaccurate!  I believe that Professional Wet Cleaning is the inevitable and undeniable future of the Garment Care Industry. A decade ago, the question may have been: “Does Wet Cleaning work?” but such a question today is indicative of one who has not kept up with the changes of time and the advent of greater technology.  The question that garment care experts should ask today is: “Can I be a successful Wet Cleaner?”   Participating in this year’s Clean Show was a great learning experience and an opportunity...
