We just hosted our recent workshop for dry cleaners that are interested in converting to Professional Wet Cleaning (PWC) like us. We had several guests from the Bay Area who were genuinely interested in the system. We cleaned and pressed garments for everyone to see for themselves and one of our guests even had a sweater cleaned in the process too.
Many dry cleaners are afraid of switching 100% to PWC but that is the only way to become truly green. Too many dry cleaners tout themselves all over their store fronts as being “Organic” or “eco-friendly” but the sad truth is that they are not. Formaldehyde, petroleum, and silica (just to name a few of those toxic solvents) are NOT green NOR safe. I hope consumers will really take the time to educate themselves to know what is being used to clean their garments.
Also be wary of the mixed use facilities where they claim to be “wet cleaning” in addition to the solvents being used. Solvents are still being used at that location.

What charitable organizations fuel your passion for giving?
I’ve always had a heart for children and the elderly: the most vulnerable and important members of our society. Any news or stories about abused or neglected children and elderly make me very very upset and even angry. I’m not writing this piece to advertise or to show off my charities but I did want to talk about the importance of community and giving for me personally.
You do not need a hefty bank account or eons of free time to help others and to give! There are so many different ways to contribute and each of those ways create enormous ripple effects that cannot be measured in strict numerical or physical values. My friends always laugh or shake their heads at me because I often cannot say “no” when people ask for help. But the extreme joy and satisfaction that I feel when I do contribute cannot be expressed in words and it is something I’d like continue to do for as long as I can even of no one may know the ways in which I am helping.
Wedding Gowns are our Specialty
- Wedding Gown Cleaning
- Wedding and Bridal Gown Alterations
- Wedding Gown Pressing
You spent a great deal of time and thought selecting your wedding dress and you want to hold onto your beautiful gown for sentimental reasons or for the next generation. Either way, your wedding gown is a treasured keepsake that if properly cleaned and preserved, can last for years to come. Often, after a wedding, the bridal gown is left in a plastic garment bag with good intentions of cleaning and preservation someday. That often turns into weeks, and then years. This procrastination poses some serious risks to the gown such as oxidation of stains, seen and unseen. Your dress may have noticeable stains from food or make-up, or the hemline may be soiled. Your dress may look clean to you, but do not be fooled, spills from alcoholic beverages or clear soda may dry clear, but oxidize with time, turn brown and become more difficult to remove later. Body perspiration may also cause the dress lining to turn brittle over time. Your dress needs to be cleaned in order to keep it in the best condition possible. Cleaning and preserving your bridal gown as soon as possible ensures that your gown remains in the best condition possible. Ideally, your dress should be cleaned and preserved within days of your wedding.

Many people may not know this but Press On Cleaners is a Demo site for Professional Wet Cleaning in Northern California which is coordinated by UCLA’s Sustainable Technology and Policy Program. When we or our colleagues host a workshop, it allows other dry cleaners to come and see our system and to also bring their garments to see for themselves firsthand how effective wet cleaning is. In August, we visited one of our fellow Wet Cleaners in Thousand Oaks, California. James and I were interviewed for the video so you’ll see us in it too.

We are very honored and proud to have finished another successful event cleaning MAC’s special event performance garments this past weekend at the Hillsdale Shopping Center from October 24~ October 27th.
This year’s theme was “Divine Night” and all the dancers looked fabulous! Their dancing and singing was pulsating and upbeat enough to make every passer-byer stop to watch. Last year’s performance was fun too with a ’50s/60s theme of poodle skirt type dresses and bouffant hairdos.
This year, the men wore gold leather jackets and black pants while the women wore black and beige chiffon dresses. The lead singer wore a black dress with gold beading.
Here are a few pictures I thought we could share. We can’t wait to see next year’s theme!
